Pregnancy & Post Natal THerapy
During pregnancy your body undergoes numerous changes which place additional stress on your body as the baby develops and this can lead to aches and pains in the muscles, specifically in the back and legs.
Please note: We will only be able to provide a pregnancy massage after the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy.
KINESIO TAPING
Kinesio Taping has been used in the areas of sports performance, pain management and physical therapy for 25 years.
It is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It is used by professionals throughout the world to successfully treat injuries and pain.
Pam completed her training with Rocktape UK and is a Level II qualified Rock Doc.
How does it work?
When applied properly, ROCKTAPE lifts the skin away from the muscle, which promotes positive changes in the bodies fluid, mechanical and neurological systems. Commonly people wearing Rocktape report less pain, swelling and tightness, greater awareness of the area and later onset of fatigue.

TESTIMONIALS
"Pam is very polite and friendly while also being very professional. I have seen Pam several times with different problems ranging from tight legs and ankles to a very painful shoulder. Every time she has made a real difference to my body. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to muscle groups and how the body works. I have recommended her to several of my own clients and will continue to use her for deep tissue massage."
- Laina Lovegrove, Personal Trainer & Yoga Teacher
"Pam is extremely professional and never fails to find the problem and remedy it with her treatments. I am currently in training for Iron Man Wales and need to keep on top of my fitness. Pam's massages help keep me fit and supple, enabling me to carry on with my extreme regime. I would highly recommend her."
- Kevan Hewitt
"As part of the Physio Ed team Pam has been coming to the theatre twice a week since August 2014 to provide massages to both cast and crew at Wicked. She takes whatever injuries or niggles the Wicked team throw at her in her stride and is always able to offer advice on body maintenance and injury management. Her regular massage sessions help us stay injury free and show ready."

What should I expect from my first appointment?
Your initial session will involve a consultation, during this consultation your medical and injury history will be discussed, along with what your physical goals are and what you would like to achieve from Sports and Remedial massage. The therapist will perform a postural and biomechanical assessment, depending on your needs and reason for attending, this will be followed by the treatment. At the end of your treatment guidance can be offered on relevant stretching techniques and / or exercises where appropriate.
How frequently should I have massage?
We would recommend getting a massage every other week. Some of our clients come every week, some once in a while. You will feel the benefit directly after the first session, then your body will tell you when you should come again.
Do you do home visits?
Yes, it is easy for us to do home visits. There is a travelling charge that differs depending on your location. Please contact us for a quote.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY MASSAGE?
Generally you should wear as little as possible during your treatment - it is easier for us especially when working on glutes (buttocks) or hips. During your treatment you will be covered with a towel to retain your modesty, which is moved only to allow access to the area of the body that is being worked on.
Most clients wear stretchy underwear on the lower body. More restrictive undergarments - the type with no stretch, can make getting access to the hamstring/adductor attachments very difficult, so treatment would then be carried out through a towel. Although this towel technique is just as effective it is not as easy to warm up the areas in preparation for heavier work.
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable during your massage.
Please feel free to get in touch with any further questions.

The clinic is open foR Massage APpointments
Safety measures have been put in place to reduce the risk to our staff and patients. We are doing everything we can to reduce the risks but please be aware that there is no way that we can eliminate the risk of you contracting Covid-19.
All guidance provided by our professional body (The Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage) are being followed.
Staff temperatures will be taken prior to the start of their shifts and seeing a patient.
Staff will be wearing both a face mask and face shield and patients are required to wear a face mask throughout the duration of their appointment.
Please do not arrive early for your appointment, you will be asked to wait outside or in your car until your appointment time when your therapist will collect you from the side gate.
Patients will be asked if they, or any member of their household, has symptoms of Covid-19 or whether they or any of their household have been advised to self-isolate. If the answer is yes to any of the above, then treatment cannot commence until an isolation period in line with government guidance has been completed and the patient confirms they are symptom free.
Clinic capacity and cleaning
There is only one therapist working in the Harold Wood clinic.
The amount of people in the treatment room is strictly limited to just the therapist and patient. As children need to be accompanied by a parent during treatment, child appointments are not being offered at this time.
The clinician will clean and disinfect all touched surfaces and equipment between appointments.
The clinic will not currently be providing pillows or towels for use during your appointment, you are welcome to bring your own clean towel to use during your appointment.
Disposable, single use, couch roll and plastic couch cover will be used on the couch. The couch will be disinfected after each use.
A gap of 30 minutes between each patient shall be observed and, during this time a window and the door in the treatment room shall be opened to improve air flow, thus reducing the risk of any residual airborne contamination being present. The window in the treatment room will be left open during your appointment (weather dependent).
